LEED Online
Click here to see new LEED v3.0 Online revisions! They’ve made some amazing updates that many organizations never thought would be able to be quantified by the USGBC!
“Online” is another common theme of the exam. All major milestones for LEED Certification are completed online. This includes, and is not limited to, registration, submittals, CIRs, delegation of responsibility for certain credits, calculations for credits, and all updates throughout the project. Be sure to browse the USGBC’s website before taking the exam, as all pertinent online information is fair game to be included in the exam?.
Random Fact:
An interesting piece of history is that the entire LEED program once utilized a system of binders for LEED Certification. They’ve since thrown that out, but it’s important to remember that the USGBC wants you to submit everything electronically, eliminating paper waste and storage space for the thousands of binders that would be returned to the USGBC each month if they were still using the old system. So if a question on the exam were to ask about the registration process, it’s important to remember there are no representatives assigned to your project, there is no phone number to call and speak with a person; this is all electronic, super-fantastic ways of the future. No people, just computers. No paper, just computers. And, last, no phone calls, just computers.
This also includes the entire LEED system. Submittals for each credit are linked to the project and uploaded to the USGBC’s website. For questions, you can reference the previously-determined CIR’s, or if you can’t find your solution amongst the thousands of responses dating back to the beginnings of LEED, then you can also submit your own CIR online. Everything. Online. Remember that.
